Little White Chapel Cadillac Ceremony: What to Expect on Your Wedding Day

· Las Vegas Experiences,Elopements,Locations,Chapels
Section image

If you're getting married at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, you've probably already spent a lot of time figuring out the important stuff: choosing your ceremony, picking a date, booking your package, getting your marriage license, and deciding what you're going to wear.

But there's another question that doesn't always get answered until you're actually there:

“Okay... what do we actually DO when we show up?”

As a Las Vegas wedding photographer who has photographed the Little White Chapel many times, I wanted to put together a simple walkthrough of what you can expect on the day of your Cadillac ceremony.

This isn't about booking your ceremony or getting your marriage license. This is the day-of process once your wedding is already booked.

And because every package and chapel procedure can change, always follow the instructions in your own correspondence with the Little White Chapel for your specific arrival time and requirements.

💍 ✨ 🚘

Little White Chapel: Your Day at a Glance

A quick look at what happens once you arrive

📍

1. Arrive + Check In

Arrive at the time listed in your chapel correspondence, then head inside to check in and give them your name.

🏳️

2. Get Your Flag

You'll receive a little colored flag. Keep it visible so your officiant can find you when it's time.

📸

3. Take Photos

While you wait, you're free to explore the property and take photos with your photographer.

💒

4. Your Officiant Finds You

When it's your turn, your officiant will come find you and walk you toward your ceremony location.

🚘

5. Say “I Do”

Choose whether you'd like to sit inside the Cadillac or stand outside, then enjoy your ceremony.

💜

6. Celebrate + Take Photos

Use your remaining Cadillac time for newlywed photos, then continue around the chapel property afterward.

✨ Pro tip: Your Cadillac time isn't your only photo opportunity. You can still take photos around the chapel after your Cadillac time ends!

First: Arrive early

The Little White Chapel generally has couples arrive around 30 minutes before their scheduled ceremony, although your required arrival time can vary.

Your chapel correspondence is the final word, so check your email and booking information before wedding day.

I recommend building in enough time that you're not rushing into the chapel five minutes before your ceremony.

You still have to check in, find parking, meet your photographer, potentially use the bathroom, fix your dress or hair, and generally take a second to breathe.

And trust me, you don't want your first five minutes of being married to feel like you're running late to an appointment. 😂

🚗 Parking at the Little White Chapel

There is free parking at the chapel, but the parking lot is limited.

On a busy day, especially when there are multiple weddings happening, it can fill up.

If you're staying nearby or don't want to deal with parking, getting dropped off by rideshare is also a pretty easy option.

If you're driving: give yourself a little extra time in case the lot is full.

Check in when you arrive

When you arrive, you'll head into the check-in area on the left side of the property.

You'll give them your name and they'll get you checked in for your ceremony.

They'll also ask whether you want a religious ceremony, meaning whether you'd like God or religious wording included.

If your wedding package includes any extras that are handed out at the chapel, you'll generally receive those during this part of the process as well.

A few things you'll find in the check-in area

The chapel also has some things available for purchase if you need a last-minute item or want a little souvenir.

You may find:

  • 💐 Flowers
  • 🎁 Chapel souvenirs
  • 💒 Wedding-related keepsakes
  • 🎨 Small art pieces from local vendors
  • 🍀 Lucky Little Prints, a local Las Vegas vendor

There are flowers available if you forgot yours or something went wrong with your original plan.

My recommendation: if you have time, get your bouquet somewhere else beforehand. The chapel flowers are convenient in a pinch, but you'll generally have more options if you plan your flowers ahead of time.

That said, if you're getting married on a whim or your original flowers fall through, don't panic.

The chapel has you covered.

The little colored flag is important

After you check in, you'll be given a small colored flag.

Keep this with you and make sure it's visible.

This is how the officiant knows which couple they're there to pick up when it's time for your ceremony.

So yes, you can walk around and take photos while you're waiting.

Just don't accidentally wander off somewhere with your flag hidden in your purse. 😂

Your photographer will also need to check in, so this is an easy place to meet your photographer if you haven't already met them.

You can explore the property while you wait

Once you're checked in, you're generally free to spend your waiting time around the property.

This is actually a great opportunity to get some photos before your ceremony.

You can walk around, look at the different chapel buildings, take a few portraits, and get comfortable with your photographer.

There is also a bathroom on the property, which is particularly useful if you need to:

  • Fix your makeup
  • Use the restroom
  • Make a dress adjustment
  • Change into something else

What about a first look?

This is one thing I'd plan ahead of time.

The Little White Chapel isn't really set up for a traditional first look.

There are places around the property where you can create a private-ish moment, but I wouldn't show up assuming you'll have a perfect designated first-look area.

If a first look is important to you, talk to your photographer beforehand so you can figure out a plan.

When it's time for your ceremony

When your ceremony time gets close, your officiant will come find you.

This is why that little colored flag matters!

The officiant will take you through the main chapel building toward your ceremony location.

You may have a final check-in with chapel staff along the way.

This part of the building is air-conditioned, which can be very nice in Las Vegas, especially if you're getting married during the warmer months.

There are also some fun benches and areas where you can grab a few photos while you're waiting for your turn.

Eventually, you'll head toward the Cadillac ceremony area.

So... how does the Cadillac ceremony actually work?

This is probably the part people are most curious about.

For the Cadillac ceremony, you have some choices about how you want to be positioned.

🚘 Inside the Cadillac

You can choose to actually sit inside the Cadillac during the ceremony.

This gives you that very classic Las Vegas wedding look and makes for some fun photos.

💍 Standing outside the Cadillac

You can also choose to stand outside of the Cadillac for the ceremony.

There isn't necessarily one “correct” option. Think about what you want your photos to look like and what feels more comfortable for you.

Your officiant will help direct you once you're there.

You may also be asked which side you'd like to stand or sit on.

If you have guests, they typically stand behind the officiant during the ceremony.

How long is the Cadillac ceremony?

The ceremony itself is relatively quick — generally around seven minutes, although the exact flow can vary depending on your officiant and ceremony.

Your officiant will guide you through everything.

There may be:

  • 🎵 Music
  • 💬 A short ceremony message
  • 💍 Ring exchange
  • 📝 Vows
  • 💋 The kiss
  • ❤️ Your official “we're married!” moment

You can reach out ahead of time about music requests, although requests aren't necessarily guaranteed.

Each officiant has their own style and slightly different way of moving through the ceremony, so don't worry if yours doesn't follow exactly the same rhythm you've seen in someone else's wedding video.

They're used to doing this.

You don't have to memorize a complicated sequence or wonder where you're supposed to stand every second.

And then... you're married!

After the ceremony, your officiant will give you an envelope for their cash tip.

They'll then head back inside the chapel for a little while to take care of the documentation side of things.

This is actually a really nice time for photos.

📸 Cadillac photos after the ceremony

Once the ceremony is over, you have the remainder of your Cadillac-area time to take photos.

This is when you can relax a little.

You're not trying to get through vows anymore.

You're married.

Now you can actually have fun with it.

Your photographer can photograph you:

  • Inside the Cadillac
  • Around the Cadillac
  • With your bouquet
  • With your partner
  • With family and guests
  • Getting those classic Las Vegas wedding portraits
  • Doing something a little more candid and fun

This is one reason I recommend having your own photographer rather than treating the ceremony itself as the entire photography experience.

The ceremony may only take a few minutes.

The photos are where you can actually slow down and enjoy the experience.

You'll receive a keepsake — but it's not your actual marriage license

After the officiant finishes the documentation portion, they'll come back out and provide you with your chapel keepsake/memorabilia and information about the official marriage documentation.

It's important to understand that the little keepsake isn't the same thing as your official marriage certificate.

You'll receive information about how and when to obtain the actual documentation you need.

For anything legal or document-related, follow the current instructions provided by the chapel and Clark County rather than relying on a photographer's blog. That's one area where information can change.

What happens when your Cadillac time is over?

Eventually, chapel staff will let you know when your time in the Cadillac area is finished and the next couple needs to come through.

That doesn't mean you're completely done taking photos.

This is something I think is really helpful for couples to know.

You're finished with the Cadillac area, but there are still other photo opportunities around the property.

You can continue taking photos around areas such as:

  • The Vegas sign
  • The chapel exterior
  • The benches
  • The tree
  • Around the property
  • Along the street outside

So don't feel like you have to cram every photo you want into those few minutes around the Cadillac.

✨ A few things to remember

  • 📧 Check your chapel correspondence for your exact arrival time.
  • 🚗 Free parking is available, but the lot can fill up.
  • 🏳️ Keep your colored flag visible while you're waiting.
  • 📸 Your photographer also needs to check in.
  • 💍 Plan a first look ahead of time if you want one.
  • 🌸 Consider getting your flowers before arriving, but the chapel has flowers available if you need a backup.
  • 🚘 You'll have time for photos with the Cadillac after the ceremony.
  • 📍 Your photo time doesn't necessarily end when your Cadillac time ends.

Can you bring your own photographer to the Little White Chapel?

Yes!

One of the things I love about photographing weddings at the Little White Chapel is that couples can have their own photographer.

The chapel also offers photography services, but you don't have to rely on the in-house option if you already have someone you want to work with.

And coordinating an outside photographer is very straightforward.

That's especially helpful if you want more than just a few ceremony photos.

Your photographer can help you plan:

  • 📸 Where to meet
  • 💍 When to arrive
  • 👰 Whether to do a first look
  • 🌸 What to do about flowers
  • 📍 Where to take photos around the property
  • 🚘 How to use your Cadillac time
  • 🌃 Whether to continue somewhere else afterward
  • 📝 What you need to know before wedding day

And yes, you can book me last minute

This is worth mentioning because I've had couples contact me the night before their Little White Chapel weddingasking if I'm available.

And sometimes I am!

Obviously, booking earlier gives us more time to plan and gives you more options, especially if you want photos somewhere beyond the chapel.

But if you're reading this the night before your wedding and suddenly realizing:

“Wait... we probably want someone to take actual photos of this.”

You can still ask.

I've photographed the Little White Chapel many times, so I'm familiar with the general flow and can jump in without you needing to explain the entire chapel to me.

On the other hand, if you're the person who is planning your Las Vegas elopement a year in advance, that's great too.

We can actually plan the whole thing.

📸 💍 🚘
GETTING MARRIED AT LITTLE WHITE CHAPEL?

Let's make the photos part of the fun.

You don't have to figure out the photography timeline by yourself. I can help you plan where to meet, when to arrive, how to use your Cadillac time, and what to do for photos around Las Vegas afterward.

Whether you're planning your elopement a year ahead or you need a photographer at the last minute, feel free to reach out and ask about availability. 💜

Planning more than just your chapel ceremony?

This is where having your own photographer can make a huge difference.

Your ceremony might be at the Little White Chapel, but that doesn't mean your entire wedding day has to happen there.

You could do:

Little White Chapel → Fremont Street → dinner

or

Little White Chapel → Las Vegas Strip → champagne

or

Little White Chapel → Red Rock → sunset

or literally whatever makes sense for you.

Your wedding doesn't have to follow a standard Las Vegas wedding itinerary.

If you want your photos to feel more like your actual trip to Vegas, that's something we can plan together.

Want a Little White Chapel photographer?

If you're getting married at the Little White Chapel, I'd love to photograph it for you.

Whether you're planning your Las Vegas elopement months in advance or you're standing in your hotel room the night before thinking, “Oh shit, we need a photographer,” you're welcome to reach out.

I can help with more than just showing up and pressing the shutter.

We can talk through your timeline, locations, photo ideas, what to bring, what to wear, and what you want your day to actually look like.

And if you already have your chapel booked?

You're already halfway there. 💜

💒 How early should I arrive at the Little White Chapel?

The chapel generally asks couples to arrive around 30 minutes before their scheduled ceremony, but your required arrival time can vary. Always check your own chapel correspondence for the exact time you should arrive.

🚗 Is there parking at the Little White Chapel?

Yes. The Little White Chapel has free parking, but the parking area is limited and can fill up on busy days. Rideshare drop-off is also an option if you don't want to worry about parking.

🏳️ What is the colored flag for at the Little White Chapel?

After checking in, couples are given a small colored flag. Keep it visible while you're waiting because the officiant uses it to identify and find you when it's time for your ceremony.

📸 Can I bring my own photographer to the Little White Chapel?

Yes. Couples can work with their own photographer, and having your own photographer can be especially helpful if you want photos beyond the ceremony itself. Your photographer can also help plan the timing and locations for your portraits.

🚘 How does the Little White Chapel Cadillac ceremony work?

The officiant will walk you to the Cadillac ceremony area and help direct you through the process. You can choose whether you want to sit inside the Cadillac or stand outside it for the ceremony. The ceremony is generally brief and includes elements such as music, a ceremony message, rings, vows if desired, and a kiss.

💍 How long is the Cadillac ceremony?

The Cadillac ceremony is generally around seven minutes, although the exact timing and flow can vary depending on the officiant and your ceremony choices.

📷 Can I take photos after the Cadillac ceremony?

Yes. After the ceremony, couples can use the remaining time in their Cadillac area for photos. Once that time is over, you can still continue taking photos around other parts of the chapel property, including areas such as the benches, tree, chapel exterior, Vegas sign, and nearby street.

👰 Does the Little White Chapel have a place for a first look?

The chapel isn't really designed around a traditional first-look setup, so if a first look is important to you, it's best to plan it with your photographer ahead of time and decide where you want to do it.

🌸 Can I get flowers at the Little White Chapel?

The chapel has flowers available if you need a last-minute option. If you have time to plan ahead, getting your bouquet elsewhere gives you more opportunity to choose exactly what you want.

📅 Can I book a Little White Chapel photographer at the last minute?

It's always worth asking. Availability varies, but I've had couples reach out the night before their Little White Chapel wedding. I also book couples who are planning their Las Vegas elopement well in advance, so whether you're planning a year ahead or realizing the night before that you need a photographer, you can reach out and ask about availability.
