When most people think of eloping in Las Vegas, they picture freedom. They picture a day where the only thing that matters is the two of them and the vows they are making.
But lately, "elopements" have started to look like mini-weddings, and with that comes a secret truth: Adding more people often adds more stress.
As a Las Vegas elopement photographer, I’ve seen it all. If you’re on the fence about whether to invite the whole crew or keep it intimate, here is why "smaller" is almost always "better" for your ceremony.
1. The Magic is in the "Just Us" Moments
The whole point of eloping is to strip away the performance. When it’s just the two of you (or a tiny group of 2–4 absolute besties), you can actually hear each other. There’s no stage fright, no worrying if Great Aunt Linda can hear the officiant, and no pressure to "act" a certain way for a crowd.
2. Logistics are the Ultimate Mood-Killer
The moment your guest count hits double digits, you aren't just a couple getting married—you are a tour guide.
- Transportation: How is everyone getting from the Strip to the desert?
- Lodging: Are they all staying at the same hotel? Do you have to coordinate a brunch?
- Timing: In Vegas, groups move like molasses. If one person is late to the limo, you miss your "Golden Hour" sunset photos at Red Rock.
3. Don’t "Clog" the Chapels
Iconic spots like A Little White Wedding Chapel are legendary for a reason—they are cozy, vintage, and fast! Most of these classic chapels are designed for intimate groups. Bringing 15+ guests into a space meant for 4 makes the room hot, the photos crowded, and the staff rushed.
Pro Tip: If you have your heart set on a specific chapel but have a larger group, look into Las Vegas Micro Weddings. Micro weddings (usually 10–35 guests) involve more "admin" and planning, but they use larger spaces like the Amore Chapel to ensure everyone fits comfortably.
4. The Perfect Compromise: Elope Now, Party Later
My favorite "Vegas Hack" for my couples? Elope privately for the ceremony, then meet the crowd for the party. Spend your afternoon with me capturing epic, quiet shots in the Mojave Desert or at a Neon graveyard. Then, meet your 20 friends at a high-end suite, a rooftop bar like Skyfall, or a private room at Barry’s Downtown Prime.
You get the gorgeous, stress-free photos and the intimate vows, but you still get to toasted by your friends over martinis later that night.
